Death of Rebbetzen Rachel Ganz, Wife of Rav Yisrael Ganz

Published on Tuesday April 9th, 2019

It is with great sadness that we learned of the sudden death of Rebbetzen Rachel Ganz, 77 years old, following a stroke. She was the wife of Rav Yisrael Ganz, one of the leaders of the prestigious Kol Torah Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and a strong supporter of the Torah-Box Organization, since its inception.

Rebbetzen Rachel Ganz (born Shenberger), was the daughter of the famous orthodox architect Yosef Shenberger, who was involved in the building of Mikvaot, synagogues, Yeshivot and other religious institutions in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and elsewhere. He was one of the founding builders of the holy city.

As soon as she married Rav Ganz, the Rebbetzen devoted herself entirely to the noble cause of assisting her husband in spreading Torah to as many people as possible. Undisputed Genius in Torah, the spiritual father of hundreds of Avrechim and one of the faculty of the prestigious Kol Torah Yeshiva in Jerusalem, Rav Ganz has been tirelessly teaching Torah courses and lectures to students for decades.

The Torah-Box Organization has personally benefited from the unconditional support and advice of Rav Ganz in many projects from its earliest days.

The Rebbetzen had the merit of seeing her sons follow in the footsteps of their father, taking the path of learning and teaching Torah. Her daughter also married a prominent Talmid Chacham. Famous for her nobility of character, Rebbetzen Rachel was one of the great figures of Chessed in Jerusalem, which she always performed discreetly. Those who knew her will remember her goodness of heart, her kindness towards everyone and her pleasant smile that she reserved even for those she did not know.

The Rebbetzen was buried at the Har Hamenuchot cemetery. May her soul be connected to the beam of life, Amen!
